Luas extension to open: : The extension of the Luas Red Line to The Point in Dublin's Docklands will open for passenger services on Tuesday 8th December 2009 at 3pm. All travel between the four new stops in the new Luas Docklands Zone will be free to the general public on Tuesday 8th December 2009 from 3pm. To celebrate the event the Railway Procurement Agency is organising a number of free events in the area. Regular services will start at 5.30am on Wednesday 9th December 2009.

The new extension has four new stops: George’s Dock, Mayor Square, Spencer Dock and the Point. The route bypasses the current terminus at the Luas concourse at Connolly Station. From Tuesday the station will be served by just one in three trams with the rest serving the new extension.
