KRAKOW Extension

The first line of what is known as the Krakow fast tramline extension comprises construction of a 10.8km fast tramline extension between Krakow’s central railway station and the city’s southern residential area and is planned to connect Kurdwanow and Azory via a new Transportation Centre ("KCK"). The total Phase 1 length is planned to be about 11.8 km, of which 5.9 km is new track (including 1.4 km in tunnel) and 5.9 km upgrading of the existing track. All intersections with road traffic bar one would be at-grade.

The invitation for Tender was issued in September and it is reported that a deal, costing some 60 million EUR, which has been signed which also includes road-rail integration projects, new bus station and purchase of 24 new low-floor trams (43 million EUR).
