146 Bombardier high-floor cars for Frankfurt-am-Main

The German city of Frankfurt-am-Main is to replace its fleet of Duewag-built Stadtbahn cars dating from 1968-84 with 146 FLEXITY Swift high-floor LRVs supplied by Bombardier Transportation. The contract, valued at EUR 300 million. specifies delivery in 2008-2015. There is an option for a further 24 cars. The new double-ended LRVs will be six-axle cars designed to run in multiple, 25 m long and 2.65 m wide with seats for 48 and a total capacity of 184 in air-conditioned comfort. Bombardier will also supply the MITRAC traction power equipment. Bombardier recently delivered 60 low-floor city trams to Frankfurt.
