Lyon T3 open

Monday December 4 saw the opening of Tramline T3 'Lea' (Ligne de l’Est de l’Agglomeration) for public service. The line, which is 14.7 km long with 10 stops, runs from Lyon (Gare Part-Dieu) to Meyzieu Z.I. (Zone Industrial) and uses the old trackbed of the CFEL (chemin de fer de l’Est lyonnais) which closed to passengers in 1947 and finally for goods in 2003.

The line is operated by 10 Alstom Citadis 302 no. 848-857 similar to those in opertion on the urban lines T1 & T2 but with reinforced end sections and a top speed of 70km/h. There are 6 P+R sites on the line with a combined space for 1,200 cars.
