Toronto chooses Bombardier to build new trams

The keen contest for an order for 204 new trams for Toronto's TTC has been won by Bombardier, with a customised version of the 30–m Flexity Outlook low–floor design. There is also an option for a further 364 cars to run on the city's planned network of suburban light rail lines, making the contract worth CAD 1.25 to CAD 3 billion. The new trams will have a 25% Canadian content. The first prototype should arrive in 2011.
