Dublin — Luas Cherrywood Launch

Luas Cherrywood, the EUR 300m extension of Luas Green Line from Sandyford to Brides Glen, is to open on Saturday the 16th of October at 11am.

The Railway Procurement Agency said the opening of the 7.5 km of new line will be marked by a free weekend of travel on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th October 2010. There will also be a number of free events along the line.

The Cherrywood extension almost doubles the initial length of the Luas Green line from St Stephen's Green to Sandyford. It will have 12 stops between Sandyford and Brides Glen, about 1km beyond Cherrywood. The line will carry an extra 2m passengers a year with an overall journey time from Cherrywood to St Stephen's Green of about 40 minutes.
