Light Rail News: Index 2012 > Sacramento Green Line Open; 16 June 2012 |
On Friday (15 June) Sacramento's Green Line started public service. The line which extends 1.1 miles from a junction with the Yellow line at a new stop at 8th & H then runs to a new stop at Township 9 which is a residential / commercial development. It took nearly three years to build and cost USD44 million.
A further extension is planned for a further 12 miles to Natomas and the airport. This would require a bridge over the American River which is likely to cause delay due to financial restraints.
