Denver: Spur to Pepsi Center approved

The Regional Transit District board (RTD) has given the go-ahead by 13-1 to spend USD7 million as its share of a USD40.6 million project for a light rail spur to connect the Pepsi Center and Broncos stadium to the City Centre. The project includes a 1.8 mile line to serve the lower downtown and the Central Platte Valley and also calls for the extension of the 16th Street Mall by two blocks to Union Street station to create a transit hub.

Other sources of funding are to come from the Denver Regional Council of Governments and also from the private sector.
